7 7 she turned 7

Wow it is hard to believe that 7 years ago at 2:10 am Macy came into our lives. its one of those....the days drag on and years fly by...seems like forever but again like no time at all.

Macy you push me, test me, inspire me, and amaze me, you are the spitting image of me and I love you for that but you also frustrate me because of that. I anticipate seeing what you will become and achieve in your life, and some days think I am ready for that... but deep down know that I am not too eager for those days to come. I am certian you and I will go head to head numerous times but know that I love you so so much. Happy Birthday Monkey.

we love soccer

Macy is finally in an organised sport. She is trying soccer and so far LOVES it. She is a tough little lady and not afraid to be scrappy or get dirty so... this is a perfect sport for her. Turns out by coincidence her best friend is on the team with her so thats a huge bonus. We have had 2 practices so far and she loves loves loves it.

Reid is also in soccer and although not sure how the head injury effects this weekend, he loves it too.

And although not soccer Dale has begun football and is back in his element. So one final weekend of bball and the other sports have allready begun!

wow that was unexpected

Just like our beginning of spring was more than violent than anticipated... we had another event happen that was out of left field.

Sunday the 25 of March we had our first concussion... well Reid did to be specific. We had a bball tourney that weekend... and his team played and the n had an hour off and an open gym so they were playing. Reid was playing an elimination game got eliminated and was sulking... another game began ...a chase/ running game. Since Reid is fast several of us encouraged him to play ... he was hesitant but did play and had fun on the first run and saw how the game was played and was not caught so on the second run he was ready. he took off running and soon chase ensued he ran faster to avoid the tag... and then looked back to see how close the chase was and WHAM... cinderblock wall to left side of the head. He crumpled but did not loose consciousness...cried immediately...and I saw blood not sure where it was from called duke to come back since he and macy left... and then saw blood was from nose... and had big bump on forehead. So we treated the nose bleed, iced the head and then decided to take him in since he began to feel nauseous and tired. we had to stop on the drive to try to vomit... no success, prodded to keep him awake and success would come at the med clinic. Poor kid tossed all over the lobby and we made it outside to the flower bed... then all he wanted was to sleep... which is way out of character. So dr confirmed he had a concussion...did xrays on head to rule out fracture which he did not have just a slow nose bleed. He came home and was cleared to sleep for short time spurts... and he did then threw up again and nose bleeding began again but stopped. Since he was asleep again i decided to see if anything at all was weird when i woke him up and if so take him to the er for a ct to look for internal bleeding... but thankfully he woke each time like reid answered questions and walked around for me without any vomit or blood and soon the morning showed up. i kept him home on monday and his eye had alot of eye bruising ... swollen jaw, and cheek...pretty much whole left side of face. But other than bruised and sore he is Reid again so I am relieved. I always thought the concussions would come from football... not a game of chase. I do have to give a shout out to Dale who was sooo worried about his brother. He checked on him all evening, and even came and slept on the floor next to him in my room to watch him... very heartwarming.

my dads bday poem

Hmm how old how old it is a wonder,
Ok .....well now .....let me ponder.

Over 30 easy to tell,
since his three kids are as well.

But less than 90 thats easy too,
as he is still spry and has lots of youth.

Older because, the hearing is questionable on occasion,
but with all the music played and enjoyed that there is any left is amazing!

Yet young and quite dexterous he is with his hands,
his wood working will show he has many fans.

And young again, as he skis the slopes,
and and acts like a teen playing jokes.

But then wise with age to his 6 grand kids,
there bepaw is the man and the cool corvette is his!

So is he 60 or 80 or 75 hmmm I dunno I just glad he is happy, and healthy, still playing his horn and on the hard notes even stealthy.

We love you dad you are a star and we don't care how old you are,
and honestly it is easier on us, all that hard math ...it's not worth the fuss

So since our cruise got pushed to the summer we decided last minute to go to Vegas for spring break and do all things kid friendly that were there.

I'd say we were pretty darn successful in accomplishing that task too.
We flew in late on Friday night and our flights were all delayed due to thunderstorms in Our city as well as Dallas. But thankfully both were delayed so we made the flights and got there a bit late but got there non the less. We drove the kids down the strip that night and then went to the MGM where we were staying. Saturday we did some hotel touring and saw the aquarium at Mandalay bay...which was good but we are pretty spoiled since we live 10 min from sea world which puts most fish places to shame.

We passed a crazy sock place and the boys got some superman and batman socks complete with capes and Macy got some cute slippers. I found a cute hat.. Then we went to NyNy and rode the roller coaster 2 times... Pretty good ride the front seats were voted to be better than the rear by Dale. Then to our hotel for swimming. The lazy river was packed but fun...albeit a bit injury inducing... Reid scrapped his knees, duke sliced open his big toe and cut another, my leg was cut, Dales sides were scrapped....I think it's time for some re plastering. It was ok in the water but once you got out it was just cold. We ate at rainforest cafe that night for Macy's bday. Sunday we did a bit more hotel seeing did the forum shops and met Dick Butkus, he is quite the jokester...

then went to game works for some unlimited arcade time. that that night went to Fremont street and the boys did the zip line

then we went on the the stratosphere and rode the big shot and toured the observation deck.

Dale decided when he is 14 he wants to do the skyjump...you jump of the stratosphere in a "controlled descent"...its crazy fast but looks cool. I was pretty proud of Reid he is not really a roller coaster junkie... i think he just likes them because Duke and Dale do... but he did it like a champ. Monday we grabbed breakfast with brad who was in town for the race with the thunderbirds and Then headed to do indoor skydiving. It was very cool... a second time for me but a first for the kids and they loved it.

Then we went to Circus Circus and did all that the adventure dome had to offer...laser tag, bumper cars, coasters.... uncrowded and pretty good rides too, not the big shot but fun and Dale and Reid won the Chicken Chunkin contest in the arcade and we came home with a family of stuffed hippos a dog and a cow from our arcade efforts. That night Duke and I went out for our anniversary and the kids saw the Lorax movie. We ate on the strip, went and saw the Belliago show...my favourite, and walked through some of the new shops. We tried to gamble but could not find a table open and Duke decided to wait on a seat and I went to the room to relax....I am all about gambling but not gonna wait for a seat. We did play 5 bucks for each kid on slots they picked... but they did not win anything....a reid really wanted that car!
We also went by the pawn stars pawn shop...we went back durring the day but decided not wait in line to get in the shop

Tuesday Duke told me he wanted to get me a purse i was eyeing for our anniversary and since he did find a seat at a table and did win...i agreed that I would love the purse...so we picked that up and pretty much headed out to the airport .... no issues on the way home. Dogs survived the kennels, and spring break is a wrap and a successful one at that.

he scored!!

Basketball is coming to a close and the team is great, the league leaves a bit to be desired but i digress.... My only hope for the boys this season was to make one goal....Reid did this the first game...so mission accomplished. Dale however treats the ball more like a hot potato than a ball and gets rid of it ... he is a defensive machine...we joke that his motto is no one scores on my side of the field/ court...not even me! So finally in his last season game he did it.... he scored. He was soo touched he cried and his coach asked if he was ok and he said yea i just never thought it would go in.... of course I missed the video of it... but saw it happen. I am very proud that they are trying new things and even though not a star at it ...doing it non the less.

happy birthday pops

My dad celebrated ...lets say a memorable bday... We debated on a big bash
but since he was a bit bothered by the year we decided that keeping it more intimate would be better. Turns out he was up for the Mardi Gras King of Kerrville... and there is this big party... so I decide to go support him and also serve as a distraction since Brad and Jonelle and Aiden came to suprise him at the party! Total success he was fully shocked and Aiden was a little stud at the party. He even played with the band...

and was crowned KING...

another total shocker for him... and I was really glad I went. I got to see a few old faces and that was fun and heck HE WON!! go dad!
Later that week my Aunt and Uncle came and we all went to the Grey Moss Inn for dinner...another suprise....

then Sunday we had a party for him at Clear Springs Cafe...which worked great as they had a play set for the kids and plenty of space for us.... we invited a few old USAF freinds... had a goofy cake

and gave him our gifts.... each grandkid gave him an outing.... mine gave him camping, fishing, and tubing, scotts gave a tour of the capitol and the burnet train ride, and brad gave a winery tour... so 6 outing and them my mom gave him 7 dinner groups with friends. so he has alot to accomplish this year as the king... and I am happy to do them with him. Love you Dad you are the best!

humm where o where

time is flying by it seems ...hard to comprehend its days from being March. Not even positive of when I last posted... thats soo wrong right this is supposed to be my recollection of life as it happens... my lenten thing is gonna be to do better. I'm not catholic but want to give it a go.

So it has not been due to lack of stuff that kept me from posting... probably more laziness on my part if we are honest.

Well Bevo is all healed and his paw is good as new ... back to chasing squirrels and ball and anything really. We got him a vibration collar that has been amazing. It is enough to snap him out of tunnel vision and behave when he would rather not. And bonus that I do not have to shock him... not sure i have that in me and hes a pretty sensitive dog so I am afraid of what that would do to him emotionally. He doesn't wear it all the time but its wonderful.

We did experience a loss. Grandpa Don passed away the end of Janurary. He had fluid drained off his lungs and felt great after but complications arrose and later that night he lost his fight. He was 94, fully self supporting, lived at home with my Grandma... mowed the lawn, drove the cars... amazing. It happened fast so i guess that was a blessing that there was no suffering. His service was full, and soo great , very upbeat and positive. I am so sad for my Grandma, he was her second husband but he was special and treated her like a queen. Rest in Peace Don you will be missed. to steal his words.. his sufficiency has been suffonsified.
while i was there i snapped some pics of my grandmas pics

my grandpa far rt and ??

I was glad that I was able to attend the services, and Duke picked up extra Daddy duty and did an amazing job. He took the kids to the zoo, did the homework, all in all fantastic i may leave more often!

The boys basketball games have started and they are liking it. Not sure if it is a forever sport for them but exposure none the less. Dale has had 2 games and won both and Reid has had one and they won it as well and Reid even made a basket in his game.

We got report cards and all 3 kids have all A's ... which i do not now how long that can continue, but am happy to accept it as long as it happens.
